At age 44, Chris Lighty, was found dead outside of his Bronx apartment. The founder and chief of Violator Management, who is known for building up such artists like 50 cents, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tips and worked with Diddy, Ja Rule and Mariah Carey, was found faced up on his balcony after shooting himself in the head. The situation occurred after a dispute with his wife who had filed for a divorced last year. It was reported that after the argument Chris Lighty stepped outside and committed suicide on the balcony.
I must say, I didn’t know much about Chris Lighty, but once I hear information about anyone it makes me want to look up more information on that person and see what will be the legacy they will leave behind. What I found out is without Chris Lighty, we may not have know many of the artist we love and are icons today. It’s sad to hear, that he took his own life when you could see throughout social medias, twitter specifically, that he was personally loved by many.
Chris Lighty, you had so many more to teach in this world…

There are many that are upset with how the economy of the United Stated has dropped tremendously and hope that in time it will become better rather than worst. One person who felt to take a stand against it was Kendrick Lamar who stated that he doesn’t participate in voting because he feels the government isn’t helping there people. This got so much attention that Rob “Biko” Baker, the executive director of the League of Young Voters, responded to the comment:
“I respect Kendrick Lamar’s opinion. He isn’t the only young leader frustrated with the state of the political process. But by not participating in this, and future elections, Kendrick Lamar is giving the very people he is frustrated with the more free reign to continue to pull the levers they way they want to.”
“This [past] weekend, I hung out with my family members who live in Kendrick’s home town, Compton, California. If Kendrick inspired his neighbors to think seriously about the strength of their vote, we could begin to alter the popular discourse, and more importantly the economic policy of local and statewide government. I’ve seen it happen before, and I believe poor people in Compton can be mobilized to improve their living conditions. We have to stop thinking about ourselves as individual actors, and take our collective strength more seriously. I would love to chop it up with him.”
In my opinion, Rob Baker is correct. That is exactly what political leaders that are for big business wants the people to do so that they can keep going with there plan. If the people feel that there is no reason to vote then more likely the economy has no chance of changing in hopes for economical growth.
